How can I permanently set my screen resolution?

How do I set my computer to a custom screen resolution?

  • I accidentally screwed up my screen resolution with a program that went into fullscreen and made everything big. I changed it back, but now it's not quite the right size. The resolution is slightly too small, making everything a couple pixels too big, and not everything fits the way it did before. I'm pretty sure my monitor has a weird resolution, which is what caused this. Is there any way to set a custom resolution, or have it automatically fit to my monitor?

  • Answer:

rightclick screen and select resoluton you have before

Assuming you're in Vista, minimize your windows and click anywhere on the desktop. One of the options says "Personalize"-- click on that. Next, in the window that opens up, click Display Settings. There should now be a smaller window giving you the option to change your resolution with a sliding bar. You should be able to mess with it until your resolution is back to normal.

right click the desktop, click properties, click settings, and under screen resolution move the arrow and click ok until you have what you want.
