How do I make my monitor working again?

  • My monitor broke When I start my computer, it starts the proccesor, but not the monitor, it just stay's black, the proccesor is okay, It's the monitor that bugs me. How do I fix it, or what do I do so it will work, the monitor, because it's black. How do I fix it without making adjusments in the windows panel or something, when you press f4 or something. What do I do so the monitor screen works? Or is it the proccesor problem?

    Hello - Ok, when you power on both the computer and the monitor, the monitor stays black (power light indicator on? Orange or green?). Does the computer make any soft chittering noise? If it does, then it sounds like the hard drive is engaging, and you have a video problem. If it's a video problem, then here are thing things that you can check: 1. Check all cables. Make sure none are loose. It couldn't hurt to pull out the VGA cable (make sure both computer and monitor are off) and reseat it back into the computer. 2. Check the VGA cable for bent or crushed pins. I've seen faulty VGA cables cause major problems. 3. With the computer power off, unplug the power cord from the computer, take either the case off or the side off, whatever allows you to look inside at the innards. Gently, using both hands, press down on all the cards (including RAM chips) and make certain nothing is loose, or starting to pull out of its slot. Now, if everything else checks out, then more than likely what you have is a dead monitor, or a faulty one. Is there another you can test it with? If I was working on your computer, those would be the steps I'd take, in that order. Good luck! Hope this helps!

You do not provide enough information to say where the problem is. Unplug the monitor. Does it show a 'check signal cable', or similar message? If not, check the monitor's user manual, some cheap ones do not, but typically you should see something, so if you do not your monitor is suspect. Check the cable connections are secure and that ther eare no bent pins. (Usually not a problem unless the monitor has been unplugged recently) If you can try a different monitor. If you can try your monitor on a different system. When you turn the system on, do the fans come on and the hard drives spin up? If not then the power supply is probably bad. If they do spin up, do the hard drives 'chatter' for a minute or so? This is normal while Windows loads. If not, then I would suspect that the CPU or the memory are bad, possibly the hard or optical drives. If the monitor produce a test message, and the hard drive chatter away normally then I would look at replacing the video card. Good luck.

I don't think you are getting booting sound also. what ever switch off ur system. take the RAM out and replug it and start your system again. It will work.
