What is visual display?

When i lower the resoltuion of my comp it shrinks the display?

  • like stated above i tinkered with my display settings to fix the color problem commonly associated with running starcraft on win7. i right clicked on the game icon and went to compatibility in the settings box i clicked the following: run in 256 colors run in 640 x 480 screen resolution disable visual themes then i clicked apply and ran the game still the same problem but my desktop display was still fine. then i right clicked n my desktop and clicked screen resolution and went to advanced settings>monitor the next step was to raise the refresh rate to 75 hertz but my laptop cant do that, it stays at 60. so then i tinkered with it went to colors and changed it to high colors (16 bit) the screen went black and then i just had 2 inched of black around my display. i switched the settings back to normal ( true color(32 bit)) but it still has the black around the display. i even tinkered with the regular screen res. only when i put it at 1600x 900 does it fill the screen when normally i have it at 1280 x 768 without the black around the display. i continued to tinker with starcraft went to compatibility again and disabled desktop composition then colors were just fine but the screen size was literally 640x 480! almost 1/3 my screen size. i try-ed disabling the run in 640 x 4980 option but it still opens up in the same sized window/screen. i found a solution to the problem but not my computer display has to stay at 1600 x 900 to fill the screen which is a total strain for my eyes and the the game's display window is smaller than what it was previously i will post my specs in hopes that this will help some one who far more tech savvy than i am aide me. OS: win 7 64 bit Processor: AMD Turion II dual core mobile m600 2.4 GHz Video Card: AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 RAM: 4 GB RAM

  • Answer:

The resolution is the size of the display. The smaller the resolution, the smaller and less detailed the display is. Short and Sweet.
