Stuck pixels on the monitor?
-
My problem is that i have many stuck pixels on my DELL 20'' LED monitor and these pixels are permanently yellow in color. Now if i open up a new window like firefox, the whole screen will appear like a 'chess board' with yellow and white squares. i checked my monitor with another cpu and found that its not because of my monitor. i have ATI radeon x800 graphics card and 1gb ddr2 RAM. Can anyone plz advise on what the problem is ??

Answer:
You did exactly what you should have, tested with a known good source. Your video card is dieing and will need to be replaced. Now as far as how long that will be like that before it kicks the bucket will be unknown. Could possibly live forever like that or die in the next day. I have seen this happen on lots of cards, nothing you can do except replace it. As far as the dead pixels on the monitor, that is a problem with LCD manufacturing. I believe the makers would only warranty it if it was 5 pixels or more! I have NEVER seen a screen with 5 pixels dead on it. Once again the only way to resolve this is to replace panel or whole monitor (which is cheaper) I have replaced many panels that usually had on red dead pixel that burned my cookies but that's the price you pay for saving 200 bucks and going after market.
