How can I get Audio from, DVI male to HDMI female Adapter?

Audio from HDMI to DVI adapter?

  • I have been trying to get audio from my HDMI to DVI adapter but i just can't find anyway to, then i found out that it cant be done. So does anyone know how i can get audio to play from my PS3 to my TV through the adapter or even if i have to buy a new adapter which has audio enabled if its possible to do so lol. I have tried to connect up my HDMI cable with the DVI adapter and also with the composite cable but i couldn't find anyway of getting audio from it :-( although i may have done it wrong

  • Answer:

Connect PS3 to TV with optical audio cable much better sound ,buy one a Game.co.uk £5-10 or eBay £1-4 go for a cable 4-5 mm thick & gold connectors . http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/Hardware/Accessory/~r330440/GAMEware-PlayStation-3-Optical-Cable/

You possibly need to set your audio output in the PS3 settings: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/audiooutput.html http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/audiomulti.html For you to use HDMI from your PS3, my understanding is that you'll need HDMI to HDMI, i.e. your TV will also need an HDMI cable.

Sir Pete

Not going to happen. DVI does NOT produce an audio signal.
