Is HDMI compatible with mini display port?

Is their an advantage of using an mini display port 1.2 to HDMI on a 3D TV is there any benefits in bandwidth?

  • Answer:

Displayport allows for higher resolution on one cord such as 2560x1600. Right now since the resolution of HDTV's is 1920x1080. There is more than enough bandwidth within HDMI to properly support that format. And in reality, there is probably going to be no need for a new interface until the new Super HDTV's come out aka (8K TV's and the 4K' TV's) which are alot higher in resolution. Chances are with those TV's none of these interfaces will be able to properly deliver on the bandwidth necessary to drive such TV's. That is why Thunderbolt is going to be the standard one day.

A mini display port will give you a higher resolution and a better display. In fact, mini display ports are one of the best cables to use when you're looking for higher resolution and a better picture display on your TV. These cables also have the ability to support 3D video for televisions. I personally do not have a 3D TV, but if I did and when I do eventually buy one, I'll hook it up using a mini display port. I found an assortment of mini display port cables at great prices online at Triangle Cables. I hope I helped ease your decision.
