Xbox 360 monitor problem.

Xbox 360 on an LCD monitor (confused FTW...)?

  • Im about to get Xbox 360 and since our TV is a dum piece-of-**** 50hz dumpster i need to hook it up to a LCD monitor, since it seems the cheapest solution. I found this great monitor on the web: 24'' 1920 x 1080 Native resolution 2 ms pixel response time 40000:1 contrast ratio 300 cd/m2 brightness 0,276 mm pixel size Now my problem starts here; the input for this monitor is 15-pin D-sub and thats the only one there is. I saw that you need a VGA cable to plug it in but the monitor only has 15-pin D-sub input. I'm just so confused cause i saw somewhere that 15-pin d-sub is supposed to be a VGA input. The webstore says different on every monitor; somewhere its d-sub, somewhere VGA. Could anybody please explain the difference (if there is, or is it the same), and if different, what do i need to connect my xbox 360 to the monitor. Cheerz!

  • Answer:

vga and 15 pin d sub are the same thing, just different names. you can get really cheap vga to component (HD cables) converters http://cgi.ebay.com/1-5M-15P-VGA-HD15-to-RGB-3-RCA-COMPONENT-TV-HDTV-CABLE_W0QQitemZ250504694692QQ just remember, if your going to use a monitor for as a display, you're going to need external speakers if you want sound

D-sub and VGA are the same thing (just different names) you can buy a xbox 360 to VGA lead like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-High-Definition-Cable/dp/B000AYYADE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1255371239&sr=8-1-spell

I'm so damn confused... but it sounds like you need some sort of converter.... like a RGB to VGA box... if you're getting a LCD TV/Monitor for a xbox, just get one that has HDMI input.

The Cleric God

I believe the Xbox 360 only has a VGA cable that you can purchase, but you could get a HDMI cable and buy the adapter for whatever your monitor input turns out to be.

I think there is a 15-pin D-sub cable (aka VGA cable) for Xbox 360 that outputs a RGB signal compatible with computer monitors.
