How can I set up 2 monitors on a pc?

How do i set up dual monitors on my pc?

  • i would like to run 2 monitors on my cpu (doing separate operations, of course. how do i do this ?

  • Answer:

If you have a video card with two (or more) "heads" on it, then you just need to connect the monitors and tell the computer you have more monitors (if it doesn't immediately know.) On Windows this, at least used to be, found in the Display control panel under the Settings tab. You should see a "grayed" monitor representing the second monitor. Here you can enable it via selecting to extend your desktop. Moving the monitor around allows you to adjust where Windows considers the display in relation to the primary. On the Mac, it's automatic.

If your CPU does not have two monitor ports than you are going to have to buy a cable that connects to your CPU (monitor port) and than you have two ports for your monitors. After you do that go to Control Panel - Display. Click on the Settings Tab. When you go there you can see your monitors and on one of them check the box that says "extend desktop" but make sure you don't check "Main monitor" and extend desktop" on the same monitor. Then click OK or Apply.
