A question about an LCD tv as a computer monitor?

  • So I am thinking of getting a display for my Macbook. Mac's cinema display is pricey for a 24 inch screen (900 bucks). I know that most LCD tvs come with a p/c port, or vga, and some come with DVI. I can get an adapter for either from Mac to connect the tv to my mini display port. My question is, how good is an LCD tv as a monitor? How fast are the refresh rates? Would I be better to simply get an LCD monitor and be limited to what I may input to it, such as an Xbox or ps?Thoughts from people who know?

    You can connect your Macbook to any LCD HDTV with HDMI ports. I'm using my 52" LCD HDTV as my monitor, and it's connected to my Mac with a DVI-to-HDMI cable: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg As you can see the Mac looks fabulous on a big-screen LCD HDTV. You will need a miniDisplayPort-to-DVI adapter for your Macbook and a DVI-to-HDMI cable. DVI/HDMI is digital, and it's better than VGA or any other analog connection. Get an LCD HDTV with as many HDMI ports as possible-- You will be using HDMI for everything, including your computer, game consoles, and digital HD cable TV boxes.
