What caused my monitor to suddenly get darker?

My computer monitor randomly changed alignment, and now the resolution is off?

• I woke up this morning and my laptop had changed orientation, so that everything was sideways. Even my track pad had changed, so moving up-down caused left-right motion on the screen (in relation to the physical screen at least, in relation to the orientation of the screen it was still left-right). I got it back to normal by pressing my F1 key, but that switches monitor output, it doesn't fix the actual problem- if I change it to Duplicate, I get landscape screen, but if it's set to Disconnect Projector it goes back to the sideways display. And when it is in Duplicate, the image is taken from the long display and stretched to fit the width of the screen rather than just displaying the original image. How do I get my monitor to go back to normal? I literally did not do anything do make it do this and can't figure out how to change it back.

  Its nothing serious. It might be some software or your display driver which flipped the display. If you are using windows 7, then right click on your desktop, select screen resolution. Below resolution, you will find orientation. Select landscape on it and apply. The display should be normal now.
