Connect an external monitor to a laptop?

  • i have a laptop which is Hp pavilion dv6768se notebook, and it is having a problem with its display, its having light blue and white lines in the screen if the resolution is in maximum but if the resolution is in minimum the screen work fine, so the thing is, i want to connect an external monitor in the laptop to determine which part is having a problem, if it is the laptop monitor or the graphics card, but after connecting the external monitor through vga cable, and rebboting the system, theres no signal transmitted to the external monitor it is just in a plain black screen, i also pressed the fn + F4 but nothings happened, i also went to the chage display settings in windows 7 but it only have 1 display, it is like the external monitor is not detected, i need help about this issue.

    You might need to go into the BIOS setup and make sure that your port is actually enabled.
