How to get image from laptop to external monitor?

Will I get a bad image quality if I use an external 23 inch monitor on my laptop?

  • I have an ati radeon 3650 graphics card and also a vga output I'm considering a monitor that has an ips panel, I would like to use it as a secondary monitor at first, since I'm a student and I'm mostly using my laptop and then maybe build a computer desktop and use this monitor instead of buying a new one so I need a good quality monitor, I don't use my laptop for gaming or anything else I chose the dell ultrasharp U2312HM monitor so what do you think? will the quality be bad?

  • Answer:

You will get a nice 1080p image, better than your laptop screen. The only time that it might be a problem is if you try to run a demanding 3D game in it's native 1920x1080 resolution because your graphics card is fairly weak. Apart from this it will be good, its 2D image quality will be just as good as any other computer.
