PLEASE HELP: my monitor won't work on my PC and the mouse and keyboard become unresponsive!?
-
The computer is my parents- they have a Gateway DX4300-15e PC and recently when they turn on their computer, after a while the monitor just turns off randomly and the blue light (which means it's functioning normally) turns yellow/orange (which only happens when the computer is in sleep mode and stuff). However, the computer seems to be still working and everything. I have no idea why this might be happening and I've searched on Google many times but I'm confused by all the tech language. Also, I finally got the monitor to be responsive (I turned the computer off by force shutting it-pressing and holding the power button, I didn't know what else to do) the second time I turn it on after unplugging the power cord, waiting half and hour, then replugging and turning the computer back on. THIS time, everything went fine until a few minutes after I had logged into the computer and then my mouse cursor froze on the screen. The keyboard was also unresponsive and I tried unplugging both the mouse and keyboard USBs and then replugging or replugging into other USB ports but that didn't work as well. PLEASE HELP I have no idea what to do and please try to "dumb down the language" for me, I am hopeless with computer language. My mom is being really mean (for lack of a better word) and pushing all the problems with the computer onto me, so I would really appreciate it if you could give me some advice.

Answer:
i have had this issue a few times. dust build up can sometimes cause this. open the box and blow it out ensuring you don't touch anything in there at all. the other fix can be to switch your computer off at the back. there should be a little switch under where the power cord attaches. after turning this off while the computer is running you should hold down the main power/ on/off button for 20 secs. this helps reset the bios which can fix some issues. just turn it back on at the back then with the on/off button and watch it start up. see if that works. if these fail then the graphix card if you have one may be loose. try cliping it back in. discharge any static on your hands by holding the metal box at all times.

lmao you turned off the computer for half an hour to see if it works lol. And you haven't given any description about your system or OS. Avoid getting your CPU overheated, keep your CPU away from walls and make sure if any vents are not blocked. Also there might be a problem with your graphics card or monitor try tech forums on how to troubleshoot them.
