Why isn't my MacBook screen as bright as it should be?

What is the difference between a glossy LCD screen and a Matte LCD screen?and which is better for the Macbook?

  • I want to repair my Macbook screen and I have to options. I can either repair it with a glossy LCD screen or a Matte LCD screen? Im not quite sure exactly what the difference is between the two screens and which one is better to have for the Macbook. Can anyone please describe in detail all the differences(or the most significant differences) between the two screens and also tell me which one might be better, or which one would be more preferable for the Macbook???....THX

  • Answer:

Glossy is exactly what it says: glossy--the screen is made of glass, it's shiny, and has lots of glare, and fingerprints (similar to iPhone and iPod touch screens). Matte screens have a coating on it--it has a "softer" feel, doesn't get fingerprints, not as shiny, and doesn't have as much glare. Most flat screen moniters not made by Apple have matte screens. Usually matte screens are better, but if you like the nice aesthetic glossy look of glass, you'll like the glossy screen better.

All I know is matte means it isn't shiny.
