"No Signal" with DVI to VGA adapter.

Vga to dvi adapter?

  • I purchased a Dvi to Hdmi cable so i could hook my pc up to my hdtv to use it as a monitor. However, i now realize that my pc does not have a DVI. I would like to purchase an adapter so i can go from pc with vga to the adapter, and then dvi from the adapter to my dvi-Hdmi cable. someone please find an adapter for me. Should it be VGA Female- DVI Female?

    Far better off to get VGA to Component Video its easier to make and costs less by the foot and HDMI includes audio which you cant get from the VGA output of the PC

No such thing. VGA isn't convertable to anything other than VGA while DVI can be converted to VGA and HDMI.

this a major problems in all the new computer being sold....my comp which is 2 weeks old and a 'media pc' didn't come with a dvi connection either. it only has one vga for monitor.......here is what you'll need to do. and this is the only way. if you want to connect your pc to tv using dvi-hdmi then you will need to upgrade your graphics card. obviously make sure the new graphics card has a dvi port. unfortunately this is the only way....it will cost you anywhere between 60-150 for the graphics card plus installation if you don't know how to do it. if you do decide to upgrade your graphics card....make sure its not too powerful....if its one of those high-ender graphics cards for games then you will probably have to upgrade your power supply as well since your factory one would be only 300 watts....not enough for a powerful graphics cards. good luck....drop me an email if you got any follow up questions.
