Why is my computer screen is so dark?

  • I turned on my screen and now it's really dark. I tried using the buttons on the monitor but they don't help at all. I also tried tweaking the nvidia control panel but that hasn't helped either. Would like to get this fixed because it's annoying to see everything so dark on Vista.

    Is this a laptop or LCD screen? If so, the inverter may be damaged or broken. The inverter is what powers the backlight so the screen lights up. You will need to replace the inverter or have a repair shop do it for you.

yeah as said inverter or backlight mind you they 2 very different things, if feeling adventurous you can get the ccfl tubes without buying the whole screen, to be honest i think its time for a new one, its real pain in the butt fixing them

If you can't adjust the brightness through the monitor's buttons then the back-light could be going out and it may be time for a new monitor.

If you dont get any changes with the monitor controls, time to buy a new monitor.
