Cant change screen resolution?

my hard drive is gone forever and so i bought a new one and installed windows 7 ultimate and i have 23" monitor ( hp 2210m), its max resolution is suppose to be 1920x1080 but i cant change it. i've download the driver for the monitor and installed it but the max resolution i can get is only 1280x1024,i am currently connected via hdmi cable do i need to change it to dvi or install my gpu driver or how do i fix this

I suggest you check your system properties -go to conrol panel, system, then device manager. Check display adapters - you probably have to update your graphics card driver. You may be able to just right-click on the adapter and choose "update driver" and it will find the best one for you off the internet.
