How do I connect a Mac mini to my TV?

Would it work to connect a mac mini to a tv using mini dvi to vga to s video?

    FYI, the new Mac Mini using the nVidia 9400m graphics chipset DOES NOT SUPPORT COMPOSITE OR S-VIDEO. Only the older Mac Mini that had the Intel GMA950 video chipset with the full-size DVI-I output can send out an SVid/composite TV signal. You cannot connect the new Mac Mini directly to an old boob-tube TV with S-video or composite inputs. If you want to use an old boob-tube TV with the new Mac Mini, you must use a scan converter box that can translate the VGA signal to S-video or composite. I wouldn't even bother. With S-video or composite you will not be able to go higher than 640x480 and the image will look terrible.

you can use a mini dvi to HDMI if your tv has an HDMI input.

DVI and VGA are digital signals, whereas S-Video is analog. A VGA to SVID cable will only work if your graphics card supports it. When this conversion is made the graphics card actually has to modify the way it sends the signal (it's no longer DVI, just being sent over a DVI port). So make sure that the graphics card you have supports SVID over DVI.
