What is the difference between lcd and led monitor?

Deciding on which LCD LED monitor I want to buy. Asus 23" vs Samsung 24"?

  • At the moment I want to buy a new monitor for the computer and I don't want anything under 23". right now I'm down to 2 selections, but 1 of them has an outrageous contrast ratio and was wonder if it would be any difference. And would my eyes be able to tell the difference between the 2? (I have good eye sight by the way lol) Even though the Samsung cost more, it's bigger. But it has a lower contrast ratio than Asus, and I don't want anything that's dark. (Will be used mostly for gaming) Thanks

    I have a 24" ASUS LED monitor and its wonderful. One year old and going strong. you'll be very pleased, imho, with either. Mind that the monitor has the inputs that your graphics card supplies, it would be sad if you got the monitor, discover it has only HDMI and VGA, and your graphics card has DVI and VGA only.

I have the top 24" ASUS as well. I bought a new Video card at the same time. I use it on the HDMI setting and can't imagine wanting more. I had to get rid of a Samsung, it went to pot about 45 days after the warranty expired. Aside from the early failure of the Samsung I can't complain about either picture. BTW, compare the warranties of the two companies. That was the tipping point in my decision to purchase of the ASUS. You will undoubtedly love either picture, but the ASUS is less expensive, has a better warranty and looks every bit as good as my old Samsung. Kind of a "No Brainer" for me. Cheers GIMP
