Need instructions how to set my monitor to optimal resolution nothing seems to work help!?

I bought a Samsung Sync Master XL2270 brand new from Sam's Club back in April of this yr. This summer I began experiencing problems with green lines starting around the entire screen which then turned into blobs. Since it was under warranty, I called Samsung and they had me to send it in for repair. I waited and waited not hearing from them for weeks, then finally an agent called to tell me it was broken, not their fault so I was S.O.L. After a bunch of going back n forth as I had been using the darn thing up to the day I sent it in, it was discovered it had been damaged in transport so they filed a claim with UPS and send me a refurb. Soon as I hooked up the refurb I had problems right away--wavy green lines throughout the entire screen. When I contacted Samsung Tech support they told me it was several things and the kitchen sink too but were really just "certain" it was my cable running from the computer to the monitor. I knew nothing was wrong with it but just to satisfy them, I contacted Best Buy and asked if they had this specific cable as it is not a universal cable. The lady on the phone suggested I just bring in the monitor as Geek Squad does free diagnostics. So I brought in my monitor plus both cables for them to test. Turns out the entire screen was bad pixels. Again I called Samsung got the run around but was then placed with "executive" customer service. The man was nice told me just to wrap the darn thing back up send it back in the original packaging at their cost and they would ship me yet another. After weeks of waiting without a phone call I contacted them to find out somehow my order had been canceled so that had to be fixed up. Then they sent me another refurb monitor. I hooked this one up and everything looks great, however when I try to set it to its optimum resolution of 1920x1080 the screen does not fit the monitor. I have to move the mouse left, right up n down in order to see the entire screen! Again I contacted Samsung--got told that maybe my video card needed to be updated all sorts of things which I thought odd since the prior two they had sent me had worked on the optimum resolution. However I contact my computer manufacturer Emachines and they made sure everything was up to date yet I still have the same problem. Now when I call Samsung for support they have bumped it up supposedly to a tier 3 tech support which is always busy and cannot answer my call but are supposed to call me back which they never do. Folks I am stuck here. I need help for a seemly simple thing--just to be able to run my monitor at its optimal screen resolution. Right now the highest resolution I can run it at without having to scroll the mouse all over the place is 1360x1024 which of course makes things a bit too big for my taste. I do remember when I received the second monitor it was all messed up, sideways n all sorts of things and I kept hitting buttons n such and ta da all of the sudden it was set at the optimal resolution--I just forgot what the heck I did to make it work! If any of you kind folks can give me a hand here it would be most appreciated! Kindest Regards,

User's manual here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/XL2270 If you got a refurbished monitor, maybe the firmware need to be updated too. Contact Samsung by email. Maybe you'll have better answers to your problem.

is it a VGA cable your using? heres the spes for your monitor http://ifws.co.uk/q/77/Samsung-SyncMaster-XL2270HD/index.html I think from memory if your using the VGA cable theres an option in the menu that will reset the monitor picture. Also make sure win7(if your using it) didnt install the wrong driver for. I had a samsung monitor and win7 installed the wrong driver and i couldn't adjust the resolution either. Are you nvidia or ati graphics????? Sounds like your using a VGA cable get your self a DVi cable, And please check what driver you have installed, i already said i had trouble with a samsung monitor and not being able to set the resolution to 1920/1080 when the wrong driver was installed, windows 7 will automatically install new for you when you plug a new monitor into your computer. Your monitor supports a standard DVI cable, i got this straight from the manual

You have tried everything and now you have to do whatever it takes to get a refund, even sue in Small Claims Court. Years ago I bought a Samsung TV from Best Buy. Whenever the picture changed, , the loud 60 cycle hum would change volume. I took it right back and exchanged it for another brand which I used for many years. A few years later, I bought a Samsung printer from Circuit City. It was overheating the paper, and I took it back immediately. Now I won't buy anything with a Samsung name on it. Never ever. Your Big Box stores by things that the manufacturer is discontinuing, and use it as a "loss leader" on sale. Sam's Club probably got those monitors for cents on the dollar. I have seen this practice at Best Buy, Home Depot, and Tiger Direct. I will buy nothing from Tiger Direct, and I am very careful what I buy from Home Depot and Best Buy. As for Sam's Club, I will never shop there, as it is owned by Walmart which I have also seen is not the sort of place I would deal with. Costco is a much better store and a good corporate citizen, with reliable quality and fairness to its help, neither of which I could say about Walmart. I could go on and on. Cut your losses, Yare not very likely to get satisfaction form such companies as Samsung and Sam' Club.. I do wish you luck, though.
your great granpa
