My lcd monitor turns itself off?

LCD Monitor turns on then off, also making faint noise?

• Hi, This is my monitor: http://www.elec-intro.com/EX/05-14-05/viewsonic_vx2235wm.jpg I've had it since 2007. There's no dead pixels after all of this time and the colors are still great. Recently, when I leave my computer idle, every time, for more than a few hours, or upon turning the computer on, the monitor will flicker on for 2 seconds showing the BIOS or windows screen, and then flicker off. For a while I could turn off the computer and monitor and wait 20 seconds and then turn them on together and it would work for the rest of the time each time. The problem keeps popping up. Today I had to turn the monitor on and off about 6 times, and there was a faint hissing or screeching sound from inside the monitor that eventually went away. I upgraded my power supply to a 650 and got a new video card, the 460GTX about 2 months ago. Haven't had a problem but maybe that's related or is my monitor just on the way out? Buying a new one will suck
