How do I use my TV as a second monitor?

What would I need, and how would I connect my computer to use my TV as a second monitor?

    What do u mean by 2nd monitor? Do u mean run 2 monitors at once, or do u mean use it as a backup monitor to use once in a while? I'm assuming u just want to use ur tv as a monitor. For 1080p just get a video card w/ 1gb ram just to be safe cuz ur at 1080p. I assume u won't be doing any gaming so get something simple w/ an hdmi that allows for hd playback. Of course buy an hdmi cord http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0357061 ignore the reviewers review cuz he obviously didn't know what he was buying.

Does not look like the Laptop has HDMI port so your best option will be VGA. Then set display properties to use 2 screens and adjust the TV size to fit. If you do have HDMI (i would advise getting it if you dont) then this is the best option as you can then watch films with sound also through your tv.
