Why isn't my MacBook screen as bright as it should be?

Why is my macbook screen color weird?

• its like someone got a blue popsicle and dripped it into the screen you know when you touch a monitor and press on it the screen looks like water or something along those lines...well my macbook screen looks like someone pressed the corner of the screen really hard and that effect stayed their i dont know how to really explain it but how do i fix that? do i need to go to the apple store to fix it? p.s. the screen isnt broken

  First you need to test, like this.... -- Restart holding the option key for 45 seconds. Is the blue color seen? If so, it needs service. -- No blue? Restart holding the shift key for 45 seconds. -- Log in. Blue? Reinstall OS X.
