Why is my screen smaller now?

Why, when I increase my screen resolution, it just makes my display smaller and doesn't use my entire screen?

  • Can I increase my resolution and use the entire screen?

  • Answer:

To increase resolution, it shrinks the screen. Kinda like when you have a picture on the computer and it makes it blurry when you try to make it bigger. Same thing. They shrink it so it's not as blurry.

You need to change the resolution and then use the buttons on the monitor to spread the image out to the edges.

If you own an LCD monitor, theres usually an auto adjust button that will fix it for you. If not, then use the monitors buttons to increase the size. This is a common problem.

increasing the resolution means you are allowing more pixels to go in one place then before which in turn makes everything smaller. you can choose to use large icons if you want but that doesnt make a huge difference. not sure what you mean by doesnt use your entire screen. if you mean that there is black around the window you are looking at then that is not a resolution issue. that is a monitor issue and there should be buttons on the monitor somewhere so you can make adjustments. sound like you need to expand your screen to fill your monitor.good luck
