Is this a good tv to hook up to my computer?

Can you hook up a computer to a TV and monitor at the same time?

  • I know I can hook up my computer to a tv with a VGA cord or a HDMI cord. I would prefer HDMI. Also, I can hook up my computer to two monitors. So does anyone know if I can hook up my computer to a TV and my monitor at the same time so I can watch a movie or stream shows on my TV and still surf the internet at the same time? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Most modern video cards have two or more video outputs, many are DVI/HDMI or mini display ports now. You just need to run the right cables to the right monitors. Play a movie and move it to the screen that is the TV, and use the other screen for regular PC work... You need to customize your desktop settings to allow two monitors to "extend desktop" across both.

If you have more than one output, more than likely. The two PCs I have here can. My old PC has an Nvidia 6200 graphics card which has VGA, S-video, and DVI-I. I have used it at least on DVI-D+VGA, and with adapters, VGA+VGA, and HDMI+VGA. My new PC has on-board Radeon 6310 graphics, which suppoorts two of VGA, DVI, or HDMI. My 32" 720P TV is one of those screens, of late with HDMI. My monitor is a VGA 19" 1280x1024 through a KVM. I use TV+monitor just fine.
