My Desktop Computer won't turn on?

My old desktop computer broke, the tower and monitor turn on but it wont show the image...?

• my friend figures that i need a new video chip. the computer is 7 years old. if u have know to fix it or what i need to buy to fix it plz tell me

  Connect your laptop to your monitor, if the monitor shows normal image form your laptop.. the monitor is good. Then you may have several issues... quick fix is to take the video card out and clean out the dust.. blow with a can of compressed air the inside... reinsert the video card. If it works, it was just a loose connection. If it doesn't work... then do the same by taking the memory cards out one by one and reinserting... you will have to turn off and turn on each time... If you take a memory card out and it owrks, but stops working when you put it in.. the card is busted. You can replace the card for 20$ easily and be done... If afetr all that nothing works.. it is probably the video card or motehr board... by then, you mmight as well but a new computer. Why spend 100$ on video card or motehr board and still have a busted old computer.. spend 600$ and get anew set that will last anotehr five years.
