LCD Monitor Problem?

  • Ok, I am puzzled, I have an LCD monitor i bought for my laptop, so that I can use it as my main monitor. The problem is the LCD monitor turns on and off randomly, sometimes it shows "no input signal" and "data out of range" messages then turnsoff. Ok so first i thought something is wrong with my laptop so I tested it with another another LCD moniotr-IT works Then I though may be its the monitor so i connected my XBOX 360 to it. LCD works FINE. Then I thought may be its the VGA cable so I bought a VGA cable from radioshack and tried it with the same system....MONITOR STILL TURNS ON/OFF. So its not the VGA cable, Its not the Monitor, ITS not the LAPTOP.....I AM CONFUSED.....What else can it be....I'm thinking maybe XBOX is so different from the laptop, my diagnostics was not probably right....so I'm going to borrow my roommates laptop when he comes.....I AM CONFUSED.....My laptop screen has no problem, i can change the resolution frequency as much as i Want....The LCD monitor is an HP w2207 22" monitor, laptop is HP pavillion zx 5000. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

If its not your laptop thats at fault, it may be your video drivers or your resolution is too high for it. I had this problem a while ago, I fixed it by cutting two of the wires on the VGA cable to stop the monitor recieving status signals from the videocard. You will have to Google for which wires to cut because I've forgot :-)
