Why does my monitor go blank during boot?

  • I've just bought and put together a new PC. I have an LCD monitor, onboard graphics (not in use), and a graphics card. The first thing I see when I turn on the PC is the Asus logo, but then the screen will go blank before I reach my dual boot screen. I can eventually see the dual boot screen if I turn the monitor on and off, but I'd like to be able to just see the screen straight away. Thanks.

    What is going on during the boot cycle is the scan frequency is being changed more than once. I had the same problem with my LCD. The monitor was an LG. With a quick jump to thier web site, a swift download and the problem was fixed!

This just happened to my laptop as well, and i found out that it is a problem with the inverter/invertor, but it would cost quite a bit to replace, thankfully i had an identical laptop which was broken, so the repair man got the part from that, but other than that it is a problem with the inverter

I guess you have to play with the settings of your dual boot, try going into your BIOS and playing with the boot settings if they are there if one of the OS is windows go to start>run "msconfig" and play with the settings on the BOOT.INI tab (try not to mess up your boot)[I would guess this only affects the boot of that windows and not the dual boot] good luck, I don't understand how turning the monitor on/off effects booting(it shouldn't)

take the exansion slot video card back out and start up again and disable the onboard video driver. shut down and put the expansion slot card back in and hook it up. Boot up again and install the driver for it
