Dual Monitors, What do I need?

  • I understand I need two monitors, but do I also need to computers? I have one tower and 2 monitors at the moment, what else do I need?

  • Answer:

    You won't need to have another computer, that takes away the whole purpose of having Dual Monitors. Your graphics card will need to support Dual Monitors. To see if it does, look in the back of your computer and look at the port where your monitor is plugged into, if there are two of those ports or one blue (VGA) port and a white (DVI) port, then you can plug in a DVI capable monitor into that other port then enable it by right clicking on your desktop, go to Properties, then go to the Settings tab and set up your Dual Monitors there. If you graphics card doesn't support Dual Monitors then you'll have to upgrade your card by buying one that supports it.

You can run two (or more) monitors on one PC by adding video cards. The closer you can match the performance on the video cards, the happier you'll be. Hope this helps...

You will need a graphics card that supports this. Almost all newer graphics cards will. Integrated graphics however will not. You certainly do not need two computers.
