Why can't I change my screen resolution?

I need to change the resolution but i cant get in safe mode i can get the option screen but i cant cursor up?

  • i can get on safe mode option screen but i cant curse up to chose the way i want to enter safe mode and i need to change the resoloution because when i turn my computer on it loads up like normal but when it comes to getting on my account it comes up with out of range 1024*748 or something like that. i am useing my dads laptop to find out if anyone can help me

    There is an option to boot Windows (XP) in standard VGA mode (not safe mode). This adjusts your display to the basic VGA screen 640 x 480. Just hit F8 when when windows boots. Try using the tab key to move around the boot menu - sometimes that works. Once windows boots you can re-adjust your display settings to the way you like them.

Why are you doing this in safe mode? But to get to safe mode, just use the up arrow on your keyboard.

Hi. As answer 1 says, use the up and down arrows. If you have a wireless keyboard it may not work. Plug in a standard board. 600x800 is usually OK.
