Why did my monitor go blank?

Why does my computer monitor go blank?

  • I have a NEC computer monitor, about 2 years old. When I try to power it on it comes on for a second and then the screen goes blank, but the power light stays on. (solid green) I tried connecting it to several different computers same problem. Is there any monitor technician out there that can give me some hints? Im a technical person myself and good with fixing things. I built my own computer.

  • Answer:

Try turning your computer on, and wait a little bit and then turn your monitor on see if you see the startup menu, if so try checking the connections and make sure there tight. You might have a connection problem, and it's turning itself off to protect itself or you might have a short in the wire or monitor itself.

Turn off your CPU. Replace the power cable and VGA cable for your montior. Make sure you connect your VGA at the correct port of your CPU. If you have a dedicated video card, then connect it there and not at the integrated video card. use link below for addtional issues.

Unsupported resolution? Try using the native resolution of the monitor.
