Good Eyefinity monitors?

AMD eyefinity help with three monitors?

  • I have just got a third monitor for my PC and I cannot get all three to work at the same time, having looked at AMDs website it seems that I need a displayport adapter, but I am not sure. I have an asus radeon 6850, with 2 DVI ports (one is VGA compatible), 1 HDMI port and 1 Displayport. All three of my monitors have VGA ports, two have DVI as well. I have 2 VGA cables, one DVI cable, and one HDMI to DVI cable. With this setup what is the cheapest and easiest way to get the third monitor working. A link to purchase whatever adapter I need would be greatly appreciated (From UK). I have checked that my new monitor does work.

Yes you require an active adapter connected to your display port, one of your monitors must be connected to the display port via an active adapter otherwise you will not get three monitors working. The adapter "MUST" be active not passive. For your setup to work you would probably need to go 1 connected to DVI then converted to VGA (To the monitor that has no DVI connection.) 1 connected via DVI to the second monitor. 1 connected from display port to the other monitor with DVI via an "Active" display port adapter. This is what you need. Both links for active adapter. http://uk.startech.com/AV/Displayport-Converters/DisplayPort-to-DVI-Active-Adapter~DP2DVIS http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-44000-02-40R-Active-Display-Cable/dp/B00433C5Y4 And you will need this unless you already have one,for connecting the VGA monitor to a DVI on your graphics card. http://uk.startech.com/Cables/Audio-Video/Video-Adapter/DVI-to-VGA-Cable-Adapter-Black-Male-to-Female~DVIVGAMFBK Hope this helps. Edit: No guarantee this will work, eyefinity works much better when all monitors are the same(especially resolution wise) and I'm a bit iffy about the VGA monitor. One thing that I'm absolutely sure of is that you need a monitor connected to display port via an Active adapter, without it only two minitors will ever work at any given time.
