How can i reset monitor resolution back to normal?

Computer monitor "no signal" please help!!!! ?

  • The power supply got pulled out from the tower a few weeks ago and I got home tried to put it in. Booted up and the screen displayed "no signal". I've tried everything I can think of... Making sure all cables are in properly Unplugged the screen held the button for 30-60sec then startin up again (has worked once but I shut down comp as normal and displayed no signal again and not that method won't work again) I've tried taking out my ram and putting back in again. As well as taking it out and starting up with no ram inserted. I've tried taking the "jumper" thingy off and switching it to the other two pins to reset the bios. I've took the "small watch looking" battery out and put back in. I've replaced the power cords. Tried another graphic card (that might have been damaged) After all this I've gave up and I was told by someone that if I hit F8 before the windows screen I can reset the screen resolution (but can't see obv so I rapidly hit f8 and nothing comes up so do t think that's an option) I've also tried another monitor that works at my friends so it's not my monitor but my tower. Please help. It's driving me crazy and need it fixed ASAP for college and work etc etc Thanks:)

  • Answer:

You might try rapidly cycling the power switch on the monitor. SOME monitors switch between VGA and DVI/HDMI mode by cycling the power switch. I once got a lot of IBM LCD monitors because the person scrapping them thought they were bad when they were simply in the wrong mode, that was a case of "Failure to RTFM" AD
