What cables to use to connect my studio monitors?

  • I want to connect my krk rockit 5's to my computer through my presonus fp10 interface. I currently have them connected into my computers headphone port via a 1/8"- 2 rca cable. I want to connect them to the interface via the balanced 1/4" control room out to improve audio quality, but im wondering what cables to use? the monitors have rca, xlr, and 1/4" balaced/unbalanced inputs, and the interface has 1/4" balanced monitor outputs. Please recommend a specific cable (if applicable).

  • Answer:

If you are hoping to just connect the 1/8" audio-out port of your computer to a 1/4" audio input of another device, all you need is a cable that has two 1/8" male ends and a 1/8" to 1/4" adaptor, which are both very common and cheap. Im sure there are such cables that have the adaptor built in, but I have not seen one.
