Why does my monitor say "out of range?

Just hooked a tv to my computer to use as a monitor..y does it say pc analog out of range?

  • when we turn the tv on why does it say pc analog out of range?

  • Answer:

The current screen resolution / refresh rate is not supported most likely the PC resolution / refresh rate is set too high for the TV on the old CRT monitors what would happen is a big blob of garbled or squiggly lines or the picture would be way tiny up in the corner of the screen the newer flat screens can't do that so they default to a display of a black screen and an error message - you need to find out from the Mfg. what the supported resolution / refresh rates are and what the best / native resolution is - also you need to find out if your graphics card will support those resolutions as well once you find out what the supported resolution / refresh rates are - then you need to hook up your old monitor, - boot the system and change the resolution to what the TV supports - shut down - reconnect to the TV and restart the system
