How much would you sell a 2006 HP Compaq Laptop for?
-
I had someone who wanted to buy it for $70. My initial price was $90, but didn't get any offers. I wasn't planning on removing the hard drive then, but I've decided to do so now for privacy and the offers i'm being given is $50. I've formatted the hard drive, but i read even when you do that, your personal info. can still be recovered. Since i've had this laptop for 6 years now, i've done everything on it, to banking to email, every thing and the chance of all my info. being recovered is one i don't want to take. So that is why i will be removing the hard drive before selling and the individual who has shown interest in buying it for $50 is aware of this. It still works and it's the laptop i'm using to type this right now. I've never had any problems with it, so it really has been an excellent laptop. Only trying to sell it because i just need the $ right now. Apart from the price, i'm very attached to it. This was the first ever laptop i got, and well, my only laptop. My mother was the one who bought it for me, so i've cherished it since. ...And maybe a bit too much as i spend a lot of time on it. That's another reason i'm considering selling it. I'm going back to school next semester and want a fresh start. If I take it, it will be a distraction. I can always use computers at school for school work, so that won't be an issue. I don't have to take it with me, but when school ends and i return i will still have it sticking around and will continue spending time on it and that's why i'm thinking to just let it go once and for all. Should i sell it and sell it for $50?? What would you do?

Answer:
There are different ways you can format a computer, am guessing you did the basic format cause you cant recover your data back with the 2nd type of format which is also known as the factory format. you will need your OS disk if you're running Windows 7. You'll need a windows 7 disk, vista you'll need a vista disk..., Etc. Once you got those you insert the CD. Once you've placed the cd in restart your computer. And depending on the computer you have. It's usually f12 f 11 or f2. Ounce youve tunred on your computer it will say boot menu and what you press to get there. Either f11 f12 or f2 or a diff one. But you have to be quick about this you will have a short period of time to press the button. iff you miss you're chance then its ok just restart the computer again and try and get into the boot menu. Once you're in the boot menu it'll give you a list one of them should say something like Cd/drive or Usb as long as it has the Word CD or drive in it use the arrow keys to navigate to it and press enter. if you did it right it will give you a loading screen and will take you to the vista/W7 setup screen. The rest should be self explanatory. If not email me.
