How can I use my TV as my computer monitor?

How can you use a spare monitor as a TV without going thru your computer?

  • I am setting up my home office and have 2 crt monitors from previous systems that work fine. I like to have a tv running on the news, weather, etc while working and if I can get one of these monitors working that would eliminate the need for another tv and give these monitors another life other than land fill. I don't wont to install a tv tuner into my computer just to run a monitor, Vista sucks up enough resources without adding anything... I know the current trend is to run your computer thru your tv, I want the opposite.

  • Answer:

You can't, not without spending more than the monitor's worth for a "tuner". http://www.aver.com/mpd/tvbox9.html

Buying a TV is cheaper than converting a monitor

CRAZY NEIRD

Its really better to go out and buy a TV. Even after you add the TV tuner, you may get poor reception, fuzzy lines, and other issues if your monitors are not that good, or they do not have proper resolution or sweep frequency. A new TV will be sharp, clear, and more pleasurable to watch. You can also use it as a second monitor. And you have warranty! Then, just give the old monitors away to a charity, get a tax deduction.
