Wide Screen Monitor help?

Installed a new monitor for windows xp now screen goes black after startup. Please help!?

• I got a new monitor for my Windows XP and it connected with the computer fine except the new monitor has a different resolution than my computer and I couldn't find the monitor driver on my computer. I tried to install it several times from Samsung's website with no success. I installed the software that came with the monitor and then realized my computer wouldn't support it. I tried uninstalling it and it wouldn't uninstall. The monitor still worked with the computer just set at the old resolution. It worked for like two days and then I turned it on and the screen was completely black. I could hear the computer starting up, but it just wasn't appearing on the screen. I unplugged the new monitor and reconnected the old monitor and the screen was still black. I tried the new monitor on my laptop and it worked perfectly fine. I reconnected it to my computer and this time when I started up my computer the startup screen came on, but as soon as it loaded the screen went black again. It won't load the log-in screen. Now I'm at a loss. I have no clue what to do if I can't see my screen. Any suggestions would be seriously appreciated! It's an old computer so I expected it would be a hassle to set up the monitor, but now it's not even working with the old monitor. All my files are backed up and everything, but I would still love it if my computer would work. I work on my art primarily with my computer rather than my laptop. It worked fine apart from some glitches before, but now I have no idea what to do. I lost my repair disc so I'm basically screwed if there's anything seriously wrong with it.

  You have a virus. You will need to reinstall the OS, get all your goodies off first or you will lose them. If you take your machine to a shop, tell them to save your goodies, and I will bet new York to a brick you have a useless free AV
