Black screen on gateway laptop?

I have a Gateway laptop and my screen is really dark all of a sudden. Help?

• My Gateway is three years old. It's always worked perfectly but all of a sudden the right side of the thing holding the screen cracked and fell off. The screen is still on it, no problem, but it's wobbly and when I tilt it slightly far back it falls flat. It has been like this for a week or two and now I opened it and the screen was really dark. It is light around the arrow and the spinning loading thing, when it is loading. It is plugged in and when I unplug it it gets even darker. I turned it to full brightness using the Fn button and the arrow keys, yes, it is as right as it gets and is still very dark. I want real answers because I can't just go out and buy a new laptop. I'm a PC and I don't want to go to Mac unless they were on a magical sale, which I highly doubt. I need this fixed ASAP!

  Your probably have to either replace it soon unless you just might have press the brightness button by accident.
