How do get rid of a black screen?

How can I get rid of the black bar on the right of my computer screen?

  • So I was playing Spiderman 3 on the PC and there were wavy lines all over my screen. So I press the auto fix on my monitor and then the whole screen shifted to the left. I exited out the game and press the auto fix again, but the image on my screen is still shifted to the left. So now I have this black bar on the right of the screen. Is there another solution to fix this problem? I do have the option to manually adjust the position of the image, but then both sides will have a black bar. The resolution is still the same. when the image is centered there are still black lines on the sides. Everything looks the same except that black bar. PS my monitor is widescreen and the resolution is 1440X900

  • Answer:

The screen adjustment settings is likely a driver problem. First download the newest driver for the monitor. On the desktop.. right click, properties, settings, advanced, monitor, properties, driver, update driver(select the location you downloaded it to) To deselect interlaced. On the desktop.. right click, properties, settings, advanced,monitor...select 60Hz...click apply.....restart the computer.

I've seen this problem with a Philips monitor - it had to be sent back, but check on your monitor manufacturer's website to see if there's a fix.

There should be an icon to stretch either vertically or horizontally on the manual screen
