Why isn't my VGA cable working?

VGA (RGB-PC) Cable not working?

  • I have been using a RGB-PC cable to connect my Laptop up to my .T.V. screen, however it's not working anymore? I ordered an HDMI cable off of Amazon.com that I'm expecting tomorrow. This HDMI cable will run from My RGB-PC laptop output, to the same .T.V. How can I fix my RGB-PC problem? Also, what is the problem?

  • Answer:

Cables don't just stop working unless they've been physically damaged. Most likely your TV is not recognizing the resolution from your computer; try adjusting the resolution that your laptop is sending to your TV. Many TVs unfortunately are picky and will only accept a few resolutions through their VGA input. If you are talking about a HDMI-to-VGA cable like this http://hdmitovgacables.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/hdmi_to_vga_cables-300x300.jpg that you bought, cancel your order if you still can. Those cables are only for rare special setups and 99 times out of 100 will not work at all: HDMI is exclusively digital, VGA is exclusively analog. They are marketed with intentionally misleading keywords and descriptions so as to fool people into buying them.
