How can i connect my computer and dvd player together?

How come when I connect my computer to the DVD player it won't display it on the TV? ?

  • I am using a s-video cable to connect to the DVD player. No, there isn't an s-video port on my TV. I'm trying to use my TV as a monitor so i can watch movies on it and play games on it too. What am I doing wrong?

  • Answer:

You need to connect your video card directly to the TV, not to the DVD player. Like Addrea says, the jacks on the DVD player are not inputs for receiving a video signal from some other source. They are outputs only, for sending video signals to a TV. Look at your TV and see if it has either HDMI, DVI or VGA ports. Any of those 3 will work with computers. (HDMI will work with any graphics card with DVI ports when a DVI-to-HDMI cable is used).

Other answers

Generally speaking, DVD players don't have any inputs. If this is the case with your DVD player, it cannot accept incoming signals and therefor can not act as an intermediary between your PC and TV.
