How do I use dual monitors in Windows 7?

How can I get my computer to run with dual monitors when plugged into a tv?

  • So I bought an hdmi cable today so I could plug it into my tv (Sharp Aquos LC22SB280UT) and use dual monitors. When I plug the hdmi cable into the tv and route it to my graphics card (Sapphire 6850 HD 1 gb) and try to turn the computer on, I see the Asus splash screen, the "starting windows" screen, I hear the windows 7 startup sound, and the screen goes black, nothing happens. When i unplug the hdmi and restart the computer, I can run the computer just fine like normal. When I try to plug in the hdmi AFTER logging into windows and try to use the "detect" option, the screen on my main monitor freezes and I have to reboot, cant even Ctr-alt-delete out of it. I would really like to run dual monitors, but I cannot even login to windows with the Tv plugged into my graphics card or even detect my tv after plugging it in after login. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am pretty lost. Main monitor : Acer 20" HD monitor, plugged into a dvi port on my graphics card TV : Sharp Aqous LC22SB280ut (trying to link an hdmi cable from tv to graphics card) Graphics card : Sapphire 6850 hd 1gb with 2 dvi ports, 1 hdmi and one DP slot. Windows 7 64 bit Thanks you so much to anyone who can help me with this problem!!!
