About my computer screen?

Technical issue: Screen of HP computer going black?

  • This happens at desultory - random - times and I can't identify the cause. I have an HP computer, and in the middle of the physical monitor, below the computer screen, there is a little light that is green when the computer is on and the screen is displaying; the light is orange when the computer is on but asleep and the light is completely off when the computer is powered down. Sometimes I'll be using the computer - often it is idle for a few moments - and then without warning the light turns off and the screen goes black. However, the light on the PC - which is the button that I press to turn on the computer - is still blue, indicating that the computer is still on. At this point I fiddle by wildly pressing keys on the keyboard, moving the mouse, pressing the on/off button, pressing a button in the corner of the keyboard with the logo of a crescent moon, and pressing the green/orange light below the screen. If I'm lucky the screen will turn back on - but I can't find any rhyme or reason to it. Please help.

Other answers

Most computers will automatically turn off your monitor when idle to save power and protect your privacy. Did you try to turn off the monitor then turning it on again? You might need to update your monitor and graphics card drivers.
