Why is the side of my computer screen gray?

My computer monitor has bluish shadows on the left side of the screen, both top and bottom. Why is this?

    Sounds like you have either put something magnetic close to the monitor, or moved it. Try degaussing the monitor. The monitor will perform a degauss cycle every time it is turned on. There is usually a degauss option in the OSD menu too. The caveat is that it takes about 20 minutes for the degauss circuitry to cool down and perform another effective degauss cycle. The monitor does not need be turned off but you need to wait 20 minutes between degauss hits.
