Can I connect my pc to my LCD TV through my wireless connection?

How can I use my TV as a PC monitor?

  • I am cosidering the purchase of a new lcd tv (42"). I would like to connect my pc to it to view saved pictures/video footage. I have ben told that I will need to upgrade my graphics card & also have the correct sockets on the TV. I have been confused as to which card would be best (agp . pci..ati..nvdia..sos..???) I have been led to believe that the TV needs a HMDI connection . My PC is a Packard Bell Imedia 1507. Would my pc power supply need upgrading also. Would I also be able to browse the net (music/video/e-mail) with a wireless keyboard/mouse if I sited my pc in the same room bearing in mind I would still like to to use the TV for its intended purpose without too much hassle Could I fit the card & set it up myself (I have been told it is quite easy - if you know how). My apologies for sounding a bit thick but the jargon is a bit confusing - Thank you

You are in luck. All plasma tvs have either a D-sub or DVI connection. These two types of connection are the types of connection used as a standard monitor (crt monitors use D-sub and TFT monitors can use either D-sub or DVI). On my 42" plasma TV I have a D-sub connection, I simply use a D-sub to D-sub cable (available in most computer shops) to plug my computer into my TV instead of my monitor. If you have a DVI connection you simply need a DVI to DVI cable instead. Once connected use your TV remote to switch to the relevent AV channel (called PC on mine funnily enough). If your computer only has a D-sub connection and your TV has a DVI connection, the simplest and cheapest way is to buy a D-sub to DVI connector (only about £2) which plugs into your PC's graphics card output, then of course you would also need a DVI to DVI cable.

Yes you can. Simply attach your video card to the VGA input on your TV - you don't need to upgrade your graphics card or do anything special. Just make sure your new TV has a "VGA" input. The guy in the shop will know!

As long as your new tv has pc input it will work fine but make sure to check the resolution

is your TV high definition? i dont know much about graphics cards but i used my TV as a moniter for a while- and it sucked major ***. you can only use a low screen resolution for your PC, and its a difficult way of setting this kind of system up. it cheaper and easier to get a big PC screen, and get a TV tuner for your PC. thta way, you also get high def bunl=dled in with the price of a big PC monitor

I USED AN ATI CARD. YOU CAN USE YOUR TV AS A MONITOR.CONNECT THE VIDEO / AUDIO OUT TO THE TV VIDEO/ AUDIO IN AND DONE.
