How do I get the sound from my computer to my TV speakers?

  • I have a Lenovo Desktop, after market video card with dual ports. I have a Hanspree 25 in monitor with HDMI cable/monitor cord. (the cord has graphics plug on one end and regular HDMI plug on the other). I have external speakers and with that an extra audio cord (like on head phones). I also have an extra regular HDMI cable on my gaming console that I can switch around if I have to. When the computer is by itself I can get sound from the speakers, and even from the monitor on board speakers at the same time. But how can I get sound to go through my TV? When the dual display is up I don't get sound at all, from anywhere. The TV is a high quality big screen with hundreds of ports on the back. The computer has HDMI capabilities, and dual monitor support on the graphics card. The monitor has VGA and HDMI ports along with built in speakers and a port for that. Step by step please, what's the scheme for hooking this all up right?

Go into Control Panel and Under Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure the default device for audio playback is the digital one since you need to transfer the digital audio over the HDMI cable to the TV.

You can't put that together, they wouldn't allow it.

All you need are the red and white RCA cables from an RCA cable and an RCA to 1/8 inch adapter. You plug the RCA ends into your TV and your 1/8 adapter into your computer's headphone jack or soundcard speaker jack. I believe the sound output for the computer should be light green colored. If it doesn't work, you need to make sure your computer volume and TV volume are turned up. E-mail me if you have any trouble.
