MacBook Pro With Dual Monitors?

Connecting 2 monitors to macbook pro?

  • Hi someone please help, i have a macbook pro and 2 external monitors, when i run one of the monitors with my laptop to dual screen it works fine on both but when I tried connecting both to my macbook to use 3 screens it didnt work. I used a vga adaptor for my laptop and then a vga y-splitter and plugged both monitors into that but my external monitors are now being mirrored so that i now only still have dual monitors but on 3 screens. can anyone please suggest something to help me??

  • Answer:

What you are trying to do will NEVER work. The Macbook Pro supports only ONE external monitor. A Splitter can only duplicate the signal meant for one monitor (displays two identical images). You will NEVER be able to drive two monitors independently using a splitter. Furthermore, single-GPU triple-monitor-support will NOT arrive for Macs until Apple starts putting the ATI HD5000-series of video cards into their Macs sometime later this year.
