What is the best monitor for gaming?

What is the best monitor for PS3 gaming? Mainly 1st person shooters like MW2 and COD4?

  • I am planning on buying one from Best Buy this weekend so that should narrow down the options. Price isn't an issue as most of them are under $300 anyway. I would prefer one that is larger than 22" but that isn't a big deal either as long as the picture is great. The only thing I need is an HDMI port. I was planning on going with the Samsung LED Syncmaster XL2370. Picture looks sick and the aesthetics are nice as well but I read a review saying the "Syncmaster" doesn't really sync up well with the PS3. It said that games look choppy and blocky in 1080p. Apparently most PS3 games are native 720p so monitors have to upscale the resolution and this monitor doesn't do a good job. Granted this is just 1 review, but considering I am only using this monitor for PS3 gaming I don't want to take any chances. I need someones opinion who knows more about this than me. Hopefully someone with 1st hand experience with this monitor or others. yea their all very good. Id recommend going with a screen with a 2 ms delay rather that 5ms (milisecond). so like the LG - 23" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD HD Monitor - Glossy Black Model: W2361VG-PF | SKU: 9274607 2 ms response time; 50,000:1 contrast ratio; 300 nits; 1920 x 1080 maximum resolution; DVI-D, HDMI and 15-pin D-sub inputs looks pretty good. since it was rated 4.8 stars and is only $239.99 ... but yer up to u.

I have a 32" Panasonic LCD TV and it works brilliantly with the PS3, I think the system was designed with TVs in mind so finding a monitor that works as well as most TVs might be a chore, as most monitors have default resolutions far in excess of HD (1080p). My TV only does 720p, 1080i, so I am playing at the native resolution of the PS3 game and TV. My advice would be to look for a TV instead of a monitor, you can get decent 22" HD-Ready TVs that only do 720p / 1080i for not much more than a good monitor. Not sure why you would want a monitor anyway, unless you needed to connect a computer to it as well, in which case you could probably get one with HDMI output.
