Does working on a computer screen in the dark damage your eyes?

  • During the evening i love to sit in the dark and game, study or watch TV on my computer. Yes i know i sound like a big nerd but this is just when i havent got anything to do :P. Anyways my brother always tells me to turn the light on in my room because apparently looking at a computer screen in the dark damages my eyes but im not sure. Is this true?

    Its not good for your eyes. The lighting a computer screen gives will change frequently. This will be hard on your eyes as they will be constantly trying to adjust to the changing light levels. Looking at a screen in the dark is a good way to strain your eyes and give you headaches. Just get a desk lamp.

I always love to work in dark on my computer in the night as I do not require light for typing on Keyboard as I am expert on Keyboard without light. This is continued since 3-4 years but no changes are seen in my eyesight. Therefore, I personally can say that there is no wrong to seat and work in dark in front of the PC.
